Strawberry season is drawing to an end in Arkansas. Even after four hours of serving up strawberry treats at our local Strawberry Fest this weekend, I’m still not sick of them. We will see fresh berries at the farmers market for a few weeks yet in decreasing quantities. I like to console myself to the end of the season each year with some combination of chocolate and berries. This traditionally romantic pairing is the perfect dish to kiss the season goodbye. Don’t be too sad, blueberries are just around the corner.

I made my standard chocolate pudding recipe, spooned it into a ramkin, and topped it with a perfectly ripe strawberry. Simple and perfect, I’d planned to have this for dessert. It might just be dinner instead.
